고유가 및 국제금융시장의 불안 등 부정적인 대외여건의 영향으로 가계와 기업의 심리지표가 악화되고는 있으나, 실물 경기는 아직까지 견실한 모습. 내수항목 중 소비의 증가세는 소폭 둔화되었으며, 투자관련 지표들은 선행지표를 중심으로 개선추세를 지속. 수출의 견실한 증가세에도 불구하고 유가상승 등으로 인해 수입이 급증하면서 무역수지가 적자로 반전됨. 12월 중 소비자물가 상승률은 2001년 8월 이후 가장 높은 수준인 3.6%를 기록. 금융시장에서는 높은 변동성이 유지되고 금리가 상승하는 가운데, 기업대출 증가세는 확대되는 모습. 고유가가 유지됨에 따라 세계적으로 물가상승압력이 높아지고 있으며 주요 선진국의 심리지표도 악화되는 모습.
